No doubt there’s many a bookshelf in Queensland heaving with those chunky blue spined Lonely Planet travel books: South-East Asia on a shoestring, the epic Europe edition… carting around those weighty guide books has been a rite of passage for many Australians.

But could destination guides be on the way out?

With news today that Lonely Planet are cutting up to 80 jobs, the company have been quick to say they’re not stopping the press on the hard copy versions, but it got us wondering about travel habits today, do you still take the guidebook along, or do you rely on different apps and websites or do you just wing it altogether?
